Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, the President of the University of Phayao, congratulated the students from the Demonstration School of the University of Phayao for winning the Silver Award in the Art of Science and Innovation Projects category at the 20th International Students Science Fair (ISSF 2025). Their project, "Bring Mars Back to Life," focuses on cultivating plants in space to promote innovation development under extraterrestrial conditions. The event was attended by over 227 participants from 18 countries and 43 schools.
The increasing human population has spurred the pursuit of space exploration, with the ultimate objective of establishing a permanent colony on Mars. This ambitious endeavor necessitates significant progress in the fields of science and technology, particularly in the areas of energy infrastructure and medical systems. Efficient electrical systems are of utmost importance for space medical centers, and solar energy has emerged as a promising alternative.
Furthermore, the role of plants in sustaining life on Mars cannot be underestimated. In particular, carnivorous plants have shown potential for medicinal use and have the ability to thrive in extreme environments.
Additionally, these plants have the potential to generate electrical energy, which could be harnessed for supplementary energy systems.
The "Bring Mars Back to Life" Project
