International Organizations Join Informa Markets to Launch ProPak Asia 2025

Mr. Fukuyai Iino (Ph.D., MBA), UNIDO Representative United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Subregional Office for Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar, emphasized the organization's role in promoting and accelerating sustainable industrial development across developing countries and economies in transition. UNIDO, as a specialized agency of the United Nations, works with governments, the private sector, and other organizations to provide technical assistance, capacity building, technology transfer, and the development of infrastructure essential to industrial growth. The collaboration with ProPak Asia over the years has played a key role in driving innovation and sustainable development across processing, packaging, and the food value chain in tangible ways.

For ProPak Asia 2025, UNIDO places strong emphasis on working together to share knowledge and market access opportunities, raise awareness, attract new partners, and connect with international supply chains. This year, the organization is pleased to welcome participants from its projects in countries such as China, Cambodia, Pakistan, and Mongolia to attend the event, aiming to foster cooperation and define joint roles in areas including sustainable food packaging, food loss and waste reduction, climate change mitigation, and achieving food security.

Mrs. Luciana Pellegrino President of World Packaging Organization (WPO), stated that the global packaging

industry today is driven by two core principles:

  • The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with packaging technology, which increases precision and efficiency, enables mass personalization for consumers, reduces waste, and adds flexibility to production lines.
  • Sustainability, which lies at the heart of packaging design and innovation, aiming to reduce carbon footprints, promote circular packaging, and improve waste management.

The World Packaging Organization, with over 62 member countries worldwide, is committed to promoting the advancement of the global packaging industry, connecting the international packaging community, and sharing knowledge for sustainable development. The organization also partners with key industry events globally, with ProPak Asia being the most significant event in the ASEAN region that WPO has continuously supported, and one that international packaging organizations eagerly look forward to each year.

At ProPak Asia 2025, WPO will host special activities to enhance connections among packaging professionals. A key highlight will be seminars featuring global experts, including Dr.Johannes Bergmair, WPO's General Secretary and Ms. Nerida Kelton, the Vice President for Sustainability. Topics will include global packaging perspectives, food packaging material safety, the paradox between packaging waste and food waste, and the "Asia Sustainable Packaging Roundtable" hosted by UNIDO. This session will serve as a platform for sharing sustainable development strategies among packaging organizations across Asia, offering a rich experience in knowledge and networking for professionals in the packaging industry.

Mr. Manu Leopairote Chairman of Informa Markets -Thailand, the organizer of the event, stated that this year marks another significant milestone for ProPak Asia. It continues to be more than a trade show, serving as a hub for collaboration among industry players, innovators, and experts from around the world, all working toward more efficient and sustainable processing and packaging—especially in terms of reducing carbon footprints. This year's event adopts the theme "Carbon-Neutral Pathways to Sustainable Processing and Packaging Ecosystem," reflecting a strong commitment to minimizing environmental impact through eco-friendly technology.

Over four days, participants will experience cutting-edge innovations, technology, and solutions, build collaborative networks, engage in business negotiations, and discover new opportunities. More than 2,000 leading brands from 42 countries will participate, including 15 national and regional pavilions such as Bavaria, China, France, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, North America, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, and Taiwan. The exhibition will span 55,000 square meters at BITEC, showcasing the latest advancements in smart manufacturing, automation, digital transformation, and sustainable packaging. These technologies not only revolutionize the industry but also shape a more sustainable future and elevate production efficiency.

Additionally, the event will feature more than 400 conferences and in-depth seminars organized by government agencies, associations, and private sector partners from both Thailand and abroad. ProPak Asia 2025 is expected to attract over 80,000 visitors worldwide and generate more than THB 5.5 billion in trade and business negotiations, making it an unmissable opportunity for industry stakeholders.

ProPak Asia 2025 will be held from June 11-14, 2025, at BITEC, Bangna, Bangkok.
