Hytera Supports Thailand's Flood Response with Emergency Communications Donation to DDPM
Hytera Communications, a leading global provider of critical communications technologies and solutions, has donated emergency communications equipment to Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), supporting frontline coordination as severe flooding continues to affect communities across the country.
The equipment was handed over to DDPM at a ceremony in Bangkok on October 7, including Professional Two-way Radios, Compact Repeaters, and E-pack 200 Ad-hoc Portable Repeaters. Designed for rapid deployment, the equipment can help response teams establish reliable communications in flood-affected areas where conventional networks may be disrupted or unavailable.
"The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation sincerely appreciates Hytera's generous support and contribution of these emergency communication devices. The equipment will be utilized in disaster response and emergency operations to help protect the lives and property of the people, and to strengthen our capacity to respond effectively to disasters," said Nirat Pongsitthaworn, Director-General of DDPM.
Heavy rainfall since late September has caused widespread flooding across Bangkok and multiple provinces, affecting more than four million people. As emergency operations continue, reliable communications remain essential for coordinating personnel and resources across affected areas. Rescue organizations and volunteer radio networks, including VRA (HS1AB), are using Hytera PoC and DMR solutions in ongoing response operations, with Hytera's local team providing technical support.
"Reliable communications become even more critical when communities are facing severe flooding and normal infrastructure is under pressure," said Lynn Lin, Country Manager of Hytera Thailand. "This donation to DDPM is one part of our broader commitment in Thailand. Our support to DDPM is part of a broader effort alongside rescue teams and volunteer networks already working on the ground. We hope that by contributing what we do best, we can help responders stay connected and support communities when they need it most."
Hytera has been serving the Thai market since 2005, building long-term relationships with local partners and organizations across public safety and other critical sectors. Through continued investment in local teams, service capabilities, and community initiatives, Hytera will continue contributing its communications expertise to emergency response and helping build safer, more resilient communities across Thailand.
