Bangkok Bank and PermataBank join forces, combining their strengths and reinforcing their role as a "platform" connecting Thai and Indonesian businesses to support them in seizing opportunities for sustainable growth together

Bangkok Bank and Permata Bank, a member of the Bangkok Bank Group, are combining their strengths to create a platform that opens opportunities for Thai and Indonesian entrepreneurs to collaborate in business, promote trade and investment between the two countries, and drive ASEAN economic growth. The initiative reflects their position as a "leading regional bank" that goes beyond being a financial institution by connecting potential business partners through Permata Bank's customer network, supported by more than 200 branches across 81 major cities throughout Indonesia. Local experts are also available to provide business and investment advice, help identify trading partners, and offer appropriate financial support.

Bangkok Bank organized the Bangkok Bank Indonesia Exclusive Trip, bringing together 37 large corporates, SME and retail business customers to meet and hold discussions with Permata Bank customers in Jakarta from September 27-30, 2026. The delegation was welcomed by Bangkok Bank President Chartsiri Sophonpanich and Permata Bank President Director Meliza M. Rusli. Also lending their support to the initiative were the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Thailand Hari Prabowo, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Indonesia Prapan Disyatat, and Director General for Asia, Pacific, and Africa at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Santo Darmosumarto. The programme aimed to connect Bangkok Bank customers with potential business partners in Indonesia and promote tangible trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

Bangkok Bank President Chartsiri Sophonpanich said that Thailand and Indonesia are economic partners with strong potential and trade relations are continually growing across the agriculture, halal products, sustainable fisheries and green energy sectors, as well as the development of integrated business ecosystems in industries such as electric vehicles (EVs) and printed circuit boards (PCBs). By connecting with local partners through Permata Bank's network, customers can gain a better understanding of the local market, access reliable business partners, and this contributes to long-term opportunities for businesses, communities and the economies of both countries.

"The benefits of the collaboration are not limited to the company level, it can also help promote the diversification of the supplier base and customer base of the business sector, increase investment between the two countries, create growth in financial demand and help support local employment. Indonesia is a large consumer market with abundant natural resources, infrastructure and industrial production capacity. Meanwhile, Indonesian businessmen will be able to take advantage of cooperation with Thai companies to access manufacturing knowledge, expand business in new fields and connect with a wider business network in ASEAN", said Mr. Chartsiri.

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Thailand, Hari Prabowo said Indonesia and Thailand are moving beyond trading goods and services because each country has strengths that complement each other. This is the time for us to use those strengths to build concrete cooperation, actual investment and real value as well as a stronger ASEAN economic chain.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Indonesia, Prapan Disyatat commended Bangkok Bank for organizing this activity, which is in line with the Strategic Partnership Roadmap between Thailand and Indonesia 2026-2030. The two countries have jointly endorsed the Roadmap and still have a lot of investment potential that has not yet been fully developed. This activity contributes to promoting economic cooperation between the two countries by strengthening the relationship between the Thai and Indonesian business sectors and provides a platform for Thai entrepreneurs to clearly connect with business partners in Indonesia.

Permata Bank President Director, Meliza M. Rusli said that Indonesia remains an attractive destination for businesses looking to expand in the region and contribute to driving broader economic growth. We also see a significant opportunity to support Indonesian entrepreneurs to expand into Thailand and other markets in Southeast Asia by combining Bangkok Bank's strong regional network with Permata Bank's local market expertise. It will strengthen international business linkages, promote trade and investment, and support our clients to seize new growth opportunities in the region to their full potential.

This event demonstates that the two banks go beyond the role of financial institutions to serve as strategic partners to connect the business sector, markets and capital throughout the ASEAN region. It increases
opportunities for trade, investment, and employment in the ASEAN market in a sustainable manner. Thailand and Indonesia aim to expand the value of bi-lateral trade from about 19.5 billion USD in 2025 to 23 billion USD by 2030, especially with investment in important industries such as the agriculture and digital services sectors, green energy, Halal products and fisheries products.
