UP Dental Team Brings Oral-Frail Check to Ban Mai Senior Center to Screen Oral Health and Frailty

The activities focused on helping older adults better understand and take care of their own health. Participants received practical knowledge on oral health care, along with a demonstration of facial muscle exercises designed to support effective chewing. The exercises focus on strengthening muscles around the face, mouth, and jaw, which can help improve chewing ability, reduce difficulties in eating, and support a better quality of life for older adults.

Participants also had the opportunity to assess their health through the "Oral-Frail Check" application, a screening tool designed to assess physical frailty and oral health. The application provides an initial assessment of potential health risks, helping older adults become more aware of their own health status and the importance of taking care of both oral and overall health.

The assessment results can also serve as useful information for healthcare personnel to identify at-risk older adults, plan appropriate health promotion activities, and provide care based on individual needs. The project also supports continuous health monitoring and encourages older adults to take a more active role in maintaining their health and quality of life.
