Chulabhorn Hospital, Chulabhorn Royal Academy Hosts "CRA BRAIN POWER: Fit Brain, Firm Life"

Chulabhorn Hospital, Chulabhorn Royal Academy, organized the academic health service activity "CRA BRAIN POWER: Fit Brain, Firm Life" in celebration of World Brain Day 2026 to raise awareness about brain and neurological disorders and promote preventive brain health care among the public, supported by BRAND'S Essence of Chicken, under Suntory Beverage & Food (Thailand) Co., Ltd., as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting brain health knowledge. The event featured educational sessions led by neurologists, neurosurgeons, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, alongside health promotion activities and consultations with experts to encourage Thais to recognize the importance of caring for their brain health at every stage of life.

Dr. Damrong Sukitpunyaroj M.D., Deputy Director at Chulabhorn Hospital, said, "The brain is a vital organ that controls bodily functions, thinking, memory, movement, and daily life. Paying attention to warning signs and receiving timely diagnosis for conditions such as stroke, brain tumors, Parkinson's disease, and other neurological disorders are crucial factors in reducing disease severity and restoring patients' quality of life. Chulabhorn Hospital remains committed to providing comprehensive patient care through our team of specialists, multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, and advanced medical technologies. We also place great importance on health education to empower the public to prevent diseases, reduce risk factors, and gain equitable access to quality healthcare services"

Miss Jaturaporn Thanapornsungsuth, SVP - Head of Marketing at Suntory Beverage & Food (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a leading health enrichment product under the BRAND'S trademark, said, "Brain health is the foundation of learning, working, and maintaining a good quality of life at every stage of life. Taking care of brain health should begin today to help build long-term well-being and enhance potential for the future. BRAND'S is committed to developing and delivering high-quality health products that meet the needs of consumers of all ages under our Seikatsusha philosophy, which focuses on deeply understanding consumers and continuously applying scientific knowledge and innovation to develop products that support people throughout every stage of life. 'BRAND'S Essence of Chicken' contains carnosine and Vitamin B12, which contribute to the normal function of the brain and nervous system, while 'BRAND'S GOLD' has been specially developed to meet the needs of health-conscious consumers, particularly elderly. Beyond product development, we also prioritize collaboration with partners across the public, medical, and healthcare sectors to promote knowledge on brain health and raise public awareness of preventive healthcare. Our goal is to ensure that people have access to accurate information and can apply it in their daily lives. BRAND'S and Chulabhorn Hospital share a common goal of promoting brain health and enhancing the quality of life of Thai people through health education and preventive care. Starting this year, we have supported a wide range of health initiatives, including community health screenings, dissemination of health knowledge, product donations to support hospital and community activities, inviting healthcare professionals to share their expertise, and supporting Open House activities for students of Chulabhorn Royal Academy. Most recently, in March, 'BRAND'S GOLD' supported the 'Fit Check, Life Goes On' campaign to promote the concept of Active Aging and raise awareness of the importance of preventive healthcare, in line with Thailand's transition into a complete-aged society. This collaboration reflects BRAND'S commitment to building a healthier society by empowering people of all ages to care for their health and well-being in a sustainable way"

Asst. Prof. Dr. Payothorn Decharin, Neurosurgeon and Neurointerventionist at Chulabhorn Hospital, said, "A cerebral aneurysm is a condition in which a weakened area of a blood vessel in the brain bulges outward, causing the risk of rupture and causing bleeding under the membrane surrounding the brain or within the brain tissue itself. Several risk factors contribute to this condition, including high blood pressure, smoking, substance abuse, aging, and certain genetic disorders. Cerebral aneurysms often do not present symptoms until the affected blood vessel ruptures and bleeding occurs. Most patients experience headaches, which are often described as the worst headache of their lives. Other symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, weakness of the arms or legs, decreased consciousness, and, in severe cases, death. If re-bleeding occurs, the risk of death or permanent disability may be as high as 50-70%. Currently, there are three main treatment approaches. The first is surgical clipping, in which the aneurysm is clipped to prevent rupture. The second is endovascular treatment, which involves using catheter-based technology and tiny coils to block the aneurysm. Today, new technologies have significantly improved the effectiveness of endovascular treatment, including highly dense flow-diverting stents, which redirect blood flow away from the aneurysm. The final approach is careful monitoring in low-risk cases. The most appropriate treatment for each patient depends on various factors, including the size and location of the aneurysm, the accessibility of surgical intervention, the risks associated with each treatment option, and the patient's age and overall health condition. In addition, Chulabhorn Hospital continues to advance the use of Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery and endoscopic endonasal surgery for treating skull base and pituitary tumors. These approaches help minimize injury to brain tissue, reduce pain, and enable faster recovery, while multidisciplinary care ensures that patients receive comprehensive treatment and achieve the best possible quality of life"

Dr. Atita Chulam, a specialist in neurology at Chulabhorn Hospital, said, "Stroke is a condition in which the brain does not receive sufficient blood supply and is considered a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment. Therefore, the public should be aware of the warning signs using the BE FAST principle: B (Balance): Sudden dizziness accompanied by loss of balance or coordination, E (Eyes): Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes or sudden double vision, F (Face): Facial drooping, an uneven smile, or one side of the face appearing weak, A (Arm): Weakness or numbness in the arm or leg, particularly on one side of the body, S (Speech): Slurred speech, difficulty speaking, or difficulty understanding speech, T (Time): Seek medical attention and get to the hospital as quickly as possible, as 'Time is Brain.' The sooner treatment is received, the greater the chance of reducing brain damage, minimizing disability, and lowering the risk of dementia in the future. Stroke prevention includes maintaining healthy blood pressure levels, controlling diabetes and cholesterol, avoiding smoking, exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet with reduced sugar, fat, and sodium intake, maintaining a healthy weight, and undergoing regular health check-ups, particularly for those with underlying medical conditions. These preventive measures can reduce disability and mortality, as well as lower the risk of future cognitive decline and dementia"

Dr. Chanya Wuthikraikun, Geriatric Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at Chulabhorn Hospital, said, "Dementia is a condition in which abnormalities in the brain significantly affect daily life. It is a syndrome caused by the deterioration of multiple brain functions, including memory, thinking, planning, decision-making, language, perception, and the ability to perform daily activities. Dementia is therefore not simply age-related forgetfulness but a brain disorder that affects many aspects of a person's life. If individuals begin forgetting recent events, repeatedly asking the same questions, becoming lost in familiar places, or being unable to perform routine activities as usual, they should seek medical evaluation as soon as possible to determine the cause and develop an appropriate treatment plan from the early stages"

The event also featured real-life experiences shared by patients and their families to inspire greater understanding of brain disorders and patient care, including the mini workshop "Brain Fitness in Real Life," where they learned mindfulness techniques and brain-stimulating activities from experts. At the Experience Zone, attendees received health screening services and participated in activities promoting brain health, including carotid artery ultrasound examinations, body mass index assessments, blood pressure checks, body composition analysis, memory tests, brain-training games, nutritional counseling for brain health, stress management techniques, point-collection activities to redeem souvenirs, and the Brain Power Challenge photo activity.

"'CRA BRAIN POWER: Fit Brain, Firm Life' activity marks another important step in raising public awareness of brain health. Looking ahead, BRAND'S remains committed to continuing its partnership with Chulabhorn Hospital through health promotion initiatives, educational seminars, and awareness campaigns to encourage Thai people to prioritize brain health and enjoy a sustainable quality of life at every stage of life," Ms. Jaturaporn concluded.
