New research shows email is the new love letter! The new Hotmail - the best way to stay connected wherever and whenever!

There will be no Monday blues for the smitten this Valentine’s Day (February 14). That’s because many love-struck Asians will be spicing up their work day with saucy emails to whomever they are besotted with, according to an international poll conducted in Asia and Europe by Microsoft’s Windows Live Hotmail. Research findings released by Microsoft today suggests that many Asians feel comfortable expressing their love, flirting freely and even broaching problematic issues in their relationship via email. In fact, they are less conservative about doing so than their counterparts in Europe.

The research conducted on MSN, polled more than 9,000 people in six countries across Asia, and showed that approximately four out of 10 Asians exchange romantic emails with their significant others to keep their relationships fresh and exciting. In Thailand, it turns out that 36 per cent of respondents share romantic images of themselves with their partners, the highest in the region in the new era of mobile, on-the-go lifestyles. Thai respondents were also the most likely in the region to exchange a romantic message with a colleague via email, with 26 per cent admitting to it.

What’s more, 73 per cent of Thai respondents have broached difficult topics or even told lies via email, far above the regional average of 58 per cent! It is also interesting to note that 57 per cent of Thai lovers save all romantic emails from their partners, while 45 per cent also save old emails from ex-partners, which is the highest result in the region.

“Once viewed as less personal compared to using the phone or hand-written notes, email is becoming the new normal when it comes to how people share various forms of intimacy, as can be expected in this digital age,” Kamolpat Swaengkit, National Sales Manager, Microsoft Advertising –Thailand, Microsoft (Thailand) Ltd. “With the new Hotmail, sending files of almost any size isn’t an issue, so incorporating personal photos and videos can add a special touch to the romantic emails you send on Valentine’s Day, or indeed whenever you want to express your feelings in a special way.”

Top Email Tips to Keep Your Love Alive
Windows Live Hotmail has recently enhanced its service to make it easier to stay in touch and share with those who matter most. Here are some tips and tricks on how to make the most of Windows Live Hotmail:
Keep it personal: This Valentine’s Day, don’t get caught using your work email address to send romantic messages. Use your Hotmail to keep the passion alive!

Add a special sizzle to your valentine emails: With the new Hotmail, you can send files of almost any size, so spice up your emails with personal photos and videos and music files to make that someone feel really special.

Treasure special memories: Every Hotmail user gets a free extra online storage box, called SkyDrive. SkyDrive allows you to store up to 25 GB worth of files that can be shared with other people or can be kept entirely secret. Set up a “Love Drive”, and fill it up with photos, videos, mp3s, love notes and messages from the past.

Design your own Valentine’s card: You can now get special versions of Word and PowerPoint for FREE through Hotmail (called Office Web Apps). Let your creative juices flow and create a really special, tailor made greeting for your loved one this Valentine’s day.

Shout out your love in many ways: Send Valentine’s Day Messages via instant messenger (IM) and SMS to your Messenger friends and loved ones. With the new Hotmail, you can see who’s online, and with just once click chat with them using Messenger. You can also send an SMS message to his or her phone if he or she is offline — all without leaving your inbox.

Dig up sweet old memories: While reading an e-mail from someone, it is quick and easy to check other e-mails received in the past from the same sender. It’s as simple and intuitive as hovering over their name and selecting “Find e-mail.”

Don’t forget to spread your love through Hotmail this year!
