Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd. is moving ahead against the flood crisis with the unveiling of the all-new Mazda BT-50 PRO prototype concept at the 28th Thailand International Motor Expo. A total of four the all-new BT-50 PRO concepts will be on stage at the Mazda booth along with other production models. Apart from special promotions, buyers of the Mazda2 and Mazda3 at the Motor Expo and all Mazda showrooms countrywide will also have the vehicles delivered right away with no waiting period. Mazda expects to receive 2,500 orders at this year’s Motor Expo, and is accepting orders for the all-new BT-50 pickup, which will be officially launched early next year, with prices starting at Bt580,000. The BT-50 also qualifies for the Thai government’s First Car Buyer program.

Mr. Choichi Yuki, Managing Director of Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd., said the unveiling of the all-new Mazda BT-50 PRO is unprecedented in the Thai automobile industry. A total of four prototypes will be exhibited, guaranteeing Mazda’s readiness in revolutionizing the pickup industry in Thailand and around the world. “The all-new Mazda BT-50 PRO will change the face of the pickup industry as well as the old notion in pickup design and engineering, giving consumers a wider choice. Meanwhile for the Mazda2 and Mazda3 passenger cars, we confirm that we are able to deliver the vehicles without any waiting period for customers who place orders at the Motor Expo and Mazda showrooms nationwide. Mr. Yuki said.

At the Motor Expo, Mazda is also offering special promotions consisting of free first-class insurance and interest rate started from 2.59-percent. Buyers of the MX-5 roadster and the CX-9 luxury crossover will receive 3-year/100,000km free maintenance, while customers who place orders for the Mazda3 will be offered 2.49-percent interest. Also Mazda special support under current flood situation, special 35,000 Baht trade-in value is offered for All New Mazda3 2.0L models.

These special offers are expected to help Mazda win at least 2,500 orders at this year’s Motor Expo. “Apart from bringing the prototype concept of the all-new Mazda BT-50 PRO, Mazda is also giving customers the opportunity to place orders for the new pickup at the Motor Expo. Production of the all-new BT-50 will commence early next year, and the truck will come with two engine choices comprising of a 150-horsepower 2.2-liter diesel engine and a 200-horsepower 3.2-liter diesel engine,” he added.

Retail pricing of the all-new BT-50 will start at Bt580,000 for the 2-wheel-drive Freestyle Cab with 2.2-liter engine. Retail pricing of the raised 2-wheel-drive Hi-Racer model starts at Bt650,000 and retail pricing for the Double Cab model starts at Bt620,000. Retail pricing of the raised 2-wheel-drive Hi-Racer model starts at Bt740,000 Buyers who quality for the First Car Buyer scheme will also receive a rebate up to Bt100,000, according to Mr. Yuki.

Sureetip La-Ongthong Chomthongdee, Marketing Director of Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd., said the introduction of the all-new Mazda BT-50 PRO prototype concept will definitely create excitement in the Thai pickup market. “It will also help revive the Thai automobile industry, and give customers confidence about the company’s ability to produce and deliver the vehicles during the flood crisis. Mazda has previously announced that the company has resumed normal production. In addition, the all-new BT-50 will also help stimulate consumer purchasing power and attract buyers who will be impressed with the outstanding qualities of the new pickup which is highly suitable for the present situation,” she said.

Sureetip said that although during this year’s Motor Expo the Thai auto market may suffer from lower stimulations that normal, she believes that it will return to normal in the near future. “There are many positive factors such as the introduction of new models into the market, the easing situation concerning the natural disaster, as well as the government’s First Car Buyer scheme that includes rebates of as much as Bt100,000. As for Mazda, the strategy that has proven highly successful for us is being able to deliver vehicles to customers with no waiting period. Buyers who place orders for the Mazda2 and Mazda3 models will have their cars delivered immediately. This will help Mazda achieve our sales targets for this year,” she added.

The all-new Mazda BT-50 PRO prototype exhibited at the Motor Expo is designed under the “NAGARE” design philosophy, which is based on the beauty of the movements in the world around us blending with KODO Design “Soul of Motion”. Among the featured styling concepts are “Speed”, “Tension” and “Allure”. The exterior of the BT-50 focuses on elegance and pride, while the interior offers a high level of comfort and convenience. It is based on a lion ready to pounce on its prey as if to express the words “I am the proud king of the beasts”.

The all-new Mazda BT-50 PRO is evidence of Mazda’s market offense to is based on customer requirements around the world, by changing the usual pickup truck into an “Active Lifestyle Vehicle”. Mazda intended to expand its appeal to customers who lead active lifestyles and have needs that cannot be met by conventional utilities. The result is a utility that offers unique value; it has refined and expressive styling; a comfortable, high quality interior; a smooth ride with the feel of a passenger car; sporty and responsive driving dynamics that reflect Mazda’s DNA; and outstanding environmental and safety performance.

All New Mazda BT-50 PRO prototype Concept

The new Mazda pickup is totally designed from the ground up with the blending of the NAGARE Design and KODO Design “Soul of Motion”. Among the featured styling concepts are “Speed”, “Tension” and “Allure”. Mazda’s new pickup comes with Freestyle Cab and Double Cab bodystyles. The new 2.2-liter direct injection commonrail diesel power plant, with turbocharger and extremely large intercooler, is capable of producing 150 horsepower at 3,700rpm and 375Nm of torque from 1,500-2,500rpm. Apart from the balanced power output, it also offers excellent fuel economy. Meanwhile, the 3.2-liter MZ-CD i5 direct injection commonrail engine, featuring electronically-controlled turbocharger and large intercooler, is capable of developing as much as 200 horsepower at 3,000rpm and 470Nm of torque from 1,750-2,500rpm. Both 6-speed manual and electronically-controlled 6-speed automatic transmission choices are available. The automatic gearbox also features the AAS (Active Adaptive Shift) system, which ensures selection of the best gear ratio according to the driving style. The suspension comprises of a front double wishbone type with coil springs, while the powered rack-and-pinion steering provides precise control and excellent feel. The BT-50 also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard.

In addition, Mazda is also introducing a limited edition of the Mazda2 “Racing Series”, with 600 units being available. It comes with genuine factory-fitted add-ons including rear skirt, lowered springs from Japan especially made for the Mazda2, alloy wheels with new color, short radio antenna, sporty exhaust muffler, sports pedals as well as “Racing Series” decals with sports graphics. There are also special colors for this special version – Celestial Blue and Cool White for the Mazda2 Sport 5-door hatchback priced at Bt675,000; and Cool White and Black Mica for the Mazda2 Elegance sedan priced at Bt670,000.
